The University of Virginia Art Museum will host a Public Talk by Saito. Saito’s work addresses “taboo” subjects such the illegitimacy of the occupation of this continent and the legal remedies to be considered.

The Canary Effect with Ward Churchill at Vinegar Hill Theatre (directions) at 9PM
This award-winning documentary offers a fresh and horrifying perspective on the abuses enacted against Native Americans, both historically and in contemporary society. The film includes a re-examination of the Columbus legacy, its continued role in popular culture, and influence upon our historical narrative. Q & A with Churchill to follow.

The Head-Roc War Machine {Radical D.C. Hip-Hop with knock} at The Bridge PAI /10PM
Following The Canary Effect w/ Ward Churchill, The Bridge and Better Than Television present a late night Hip Hop Show w/ D.C.’s very own Head-Roc War Machine. Tickets $6 at the door/doors at 10PM, show there after. (directions)

Derrick Jensen & Dana Lyons at Live ARTS (directions) at 3pm
Jensen and Lyons team up to touch on our assault of the natural world, indigenous cultures, and the very fabric of humanity as seen through a culture and its destructive impulses. Heavy topics intersected with witty, satirical, and downright funny songs that will have you tapping your toes as you engage deeply with the discussion at hand.
